Leila Penix is a finalist in San Diego Magazine's Women of the Year 2012. She is honored to be recognized as a leader amongst the prestigious group of female entrepreneurs in the San Diego community. San Diego Magazine's Woman of the Year award recognizes dynamic women who work to create positive change and contribute to the community.

PRESS RELEASE: As of April 1, 2012, Background Productions has new ownership. In 1999, Christine Stringer started Background Productions to help "companies create exciting events that get out their message, sell their product or just have a great time." After 13 years, innovating and running Background Productions, Christine Stringer passes the torch to her trusted team Leila and Gabriel Penix.  The new owners of Background Productions, have been working with Christine Stringer as entertainers and event managers for the past 7 years. "I am excited to find a couple who are just as dedicated to creating amazing events and passionate about exceeding their clients' expectations," said Christine. "I see my performers as family and want to be sure they are well taken care of."
 
Gabriel and Leila Penix are inspired to be following Christine's lead in this invigorating industry of entertainment. "We're excited to continue working with Background Production's clients, vendors and performers," said Leila. "Christine has built a trusting, long-term relationship with performers, and we are excited to continue that trust for years to come." The Penix team is confident that together we will all continue to amaze clients, and their guests, by matching the perfect entertainment for their events. "I assure you, you are in good hands, " said Gabriel.
 
Based in Southern California, Gabriel and Leila have traveled the world together. Their ability to connect with people from all demographics allows them to use their creative, organization, and business skills to exceed the expectations of their clients. They see entertainment from the perspective of the performer, client, director, and audience. They began in this industry as entertainers and have built their company to support the arts. Their goal is to continually build a strong global entertainment community that grows with communication and passion for the arts.
